A Guide to Natural Clay Masks

Choosing the Perfect Blend for Your Skin

There’s something timeless about a clay mask. For centuries, people have turned to the earth’s minerals and botanicals for a spa-like experience at home. With just a few simple ingredients, you can mix up a mask that feels pampering, refreshing, and perfectly tailored to your skin’s needs.

Whether you have oily, mature, acne-prone, or combination skin, the magic lies in pairing the right dry blend with the right liquid for mixing. Here’s your guide to our natural mask ingredients — and how to make them your own.

Clays We Use

French Green Clay
Known for its fine, mineral-rich texture, French green clay is loved for its ability to absorb excess oil. It has a gentle pull that leaves skin feeling fresh and balanced.

Kaolin Clay
A soft, silky clay that’s one of the gentlest options, kaolin works beautifully for all skin types. It gives a smooth feel to the mask and leaves skin feeling clean without over-drying.

Botanicals & Powders

Rose Petal Powder
Finely milled rose petals bring a touch of natural color and a subtle floral aroma. It adds a sense of luxury to any mask blend.

Activated Charcoal
A deep black powder known for its highly porous texture, charcoal helps draw out impurities from the surface of the skin, leaving it feeling clarified and refreshed.

Oat Flour
Ground oats give masks a soft, comforting quality. They help the mask feel soothing and gentle, making them a favorite for sensitive-feeling skin.

Liquids to Mix In

One of the best things about our masks is that they come as a dry blend — which means no preservatives are needed and you get to choose what liquid to mix in each time you use them.

Here are a few favorites:

  • Water – Simple, classic, and easy.

  • Witch Hazel – Gives a fresh, toning feel.

  • Aloe Vera Gel – Adds a cooling, lightweight texture.

  • Honey – Creates a creamy, smooth mask.

  • Yogurt – Feels rich and velvety on the skin.

How to Use Our Clay Masks

Measure 1–2 teaspoons of the dry blend into a small bowl.

  1. Add your liquid of choice a few drops at a time until a smooth paste forms.

  2. Apply to clean skin, avoiding the eye area.

  3. Leave for 5–10 minutes, or until the mask feels comfortably firm.

  4. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.

Incorporating Clay Masks into Your Skincare Routine

Clay masks can feel like a mini spa treatment at home, and they work beautifully alongside your other face care products. Here’s a simple outline for using our masks with your existing routine:

  1. Oil Cleanser
Start with your favorite oil cleanser to remove makeup, sunscreen, and surface impurities. This prepares your skin to fully benefit from the mask.

  2. Clay Mask
Apply your chosen clay mask (Balancing, Gentle Rose Glow, Clarifying Charcoal, or Signature) 1–2 times per week. Mix with your preferred liquid, smooth over the skin, relax for 5–10 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

  3. Toning Spray (Optional)
Follow with a waterless toner or witch hazel spray if you like a refreshing finish. This helps your skin feel fresh and lightly prepped for oils.

  4. Face Serum
Apply your Bakuchiol & Rosehip Face Serum next. This locks in hydration and gives your skin a nourishing boost after the mask.

Tip: Even without a separate moisturizer, your skin can feel soft and smooth after using the mask and serum. For those who like extra luxury, you can gently layer a drop or two of a facial or body oil over the serum.
