Exploring the Art of Clay Soapmaking

A New Line of Clay Soaps Is Coming!

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been working on something special — a full collection of soaps made with some of the world’s most beloved natural clays. Each clay has its own personality, its own color, and its own unique feel in soap. This collection is all about simplicity, natural color, and an elevated cleansing experience without added micas or artificial colorants.

Here are the clays I’m working with:

The Clays & Their Unique Qualities

🌿 French Green Clay

A classic, naturally earthy green clay. Loved for its fine texture and soft, creamy feel in soap. French Green Clay creates a gentle, spa-like lather and offers a subtle, natural green color.

💙 Cambrian Blue Clay

One of the rarest clays in the world, sourced from ancient Siberian deposits. In soap, it creates a soft cool bluish-gray tone — elegant, understated, and mineral-rich in appearance. Its texture gives the bar a smooth, refined feel.

💜 Brazilian Purple Clay

A naturally occurring purple-toned clay with a silky feel. It creates soft lavender or dusty plum shades in soap and adds a velvety slip to the lather.

🌑 Rhassoul (Moroccan Lava Clay)

Mined from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, Rhassoul is prized for its silky-smooth texture and natural mineral content. In soap, it creates a warm taupe or earthy beige shade and a very creamy, indulgent feel.

🌫️ Gray Dead Sea Clay

A richly mineral clay known for its naturally deep gray color. This clay adds a dense, creamy texture to soap and can create anything from pale gray to storm-cloud tones.

🌼 French Yellow Clay

A warm, golden, mineral clay that produces soft honey-yellow bars. It gives soap a smooth, mild feel and a sunny natural appearance.

❤️ Red Moroccan Clay

A richly hued red clay that brings terracotta tones into soap — deep, rustic, and earthy. Known for its fine texture, it gives the bar a warm, comforting aesthetic.

🌸 French Pink Rose Clay

A gentle clay known for its naturally varied mineral color — sometimes soft and blush, other times deeper and more earthy. In soap, it can transform into a warm pinkish-rust shade with a rosy undertone. The result is a beautifully natural, grounding color and a smooth, creamy texture.

French Pink Rose

Cambrian Blue

These are the first two in the line up of clay soaps. They are still in the curing stage and I am so excited to try them!

Why Clay?

Clay soaps have a feel all their own — creamy, smooth, and gently polished. Natural clays offer:

  • Beautiful natural color

  • A silky, refined texture

  • A luxurious lather with extra “slip”

  • A simple, earthy aesthetic with no synthetic colorants

This entire collection will be naturally colored only with clay. No micas, no oxides — just pure, natural minerals.

The Scent Options

Each bar will be available:

  • Unscented (to enjoy the pure clay experience)

  • Lightly scented with essential oils (each clay may have its own suggested pairing)

Some scents include lavender, fir needle, citrus notes, or soft grounding base notes like vetiver — all chosen to complement the character of each clay.

More Updates Coming Soon

I can’t wait to share photos of the bars, packaging tests, and scent pairings as this collection comes together. Thank you for following along on this journey — this might be one of my favorite projects yet!

Packaging Options: Help Me Decide!

I’m currently exploring packaging styles for these new round (3") bars. Here are the options:

📦 Kraft Box with Window

  • Professional and tidy

  • Protects the bar

  • Shows the clay's natural color

  • Best for retail display or gift sets

📜 Parchment Wrap

  • Rustic and minimal

  • Allows the round shape to shine

  • Eco-friendly and handmade in appearance

🌿 Clear Cellophane Wrap

  • Clean and modern

  • Shows the entire bar

  • Great for markets or showcasing intricate clay tones

Please comment below what your preference is, because I truly value your input as I finalize this new line.
